Santa Maria Novella
This Dominican church, which dates back to the 14th century, was invaded and battered by water and oil, like many other buildings. The Green Cloister, which owes its name to the painting technique using green tones used there, was used after the flood as a store for the gas bottles for the stoves that they tried to dry out the flooded church with. After the restoration in 1983, it was possible to hang the frescoes in the Green Cloister once again, which were painted during the first half of the 15th century with stories from the book of Genesis by artists including Paolo Uccello.
