Riverbanks Washed Over

The riverbank zones and bridges over the Arno River were particularly damaged or even destroyed during the flood. The photographs of the Lungarno degli Acciaiuoli, the oldest street in Florence, were not the only documentary evidence of the consequences of the flood. Parapets were torn apart, streets were torn open, and riverbanks washed over.
